The Fifty Bookish Questions Tag

Hi! So I decided to do the Fifty Bookish Questions Tag because it’s such a fun tag and well, because I can. So let’s dive right into it…..

1. What was the last book you read?

The last book I read was All The Bright Places by Jeninifer Niven.

2. Was it a good one?

It was amazing. And sad.

3. What made it good?

The characters, the writing, the absolutely adorable/beautiful quotes.

4. Would you recommend it to other people?

For sure!

5. How often do you read?

Every day, I trie to and want to at least. But most of the time I just read about 30 minutes a day, on average. Sometimes (okay, maybe a bit more than sometimes) I read for more than that but on some days I don’t read at all so let’s just say I read about 30 minutes a day.

6. Do you like to read?

Duh.

7. What was the last bad bood that you read?

The Readers Of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katerina Bivald, I wrote a tiny review about it in my wrap-up so if you want to know what my opinion on it was you should check it out.

8. What made you dislike it?

It was boring and slow, nothing happened at all.

9. Do you wish to be a writer?

Yes, I love writing. I am already writing a book with a friend of mine about our teachers and I always have so many stories in my head! If my job would be writing those stories down I would be more than happy.

10. Has any book influenced you greatly?

More than one, actually. Some of them are A Court Of Mist And Fury, Queen Of Shadows (Sarah J Maas, *sigh*) and The Invasion Of The Tearling by Erica Johansen.

11. Do you read fanfiction?

Yes, sometimes. For some weird reason though, I find that I can only enjoy Percy Jackson fanfictions/crossovers. It’s really weird but I just don’t like other fanfiction. Oh, I especially recommend Percy Jackson/Harry Potter crossovers, they are the best ;P. Not the ones where ‘Percy is betrayed by everyone’though, those suck (most of his friends, and especially Annabeth, would NEVER betray Percy, NEVER).

12. Do you write fanfiction?

Nope.

13. What’s your favorite book?

Why does this always have to be a question? I can’t possibly answer! If you follow me on instagram and have read my blog post,s you probably have a pretty good idea of which books I love so I am not going to answer. And that’s final.

14. What’s your least favorite book?

I think The Secret Of Magic by Deborah Johnson because let me tell you, the title betrays     -_-.

15. Do you prefer reading physical books or reading on a device (like a kindle)?

I much prefer reading physical books. It just reads easier (for me at least), and the feeling of just holding a book in your hand… Also, a device has a battery and batteries die. Books are made out of paper and paper doesn’t have a battery so books don’t die!

16. When did you learn to read?

Oh god, how am I supposed to remember that? I think I started learning to read when I was 4 or 5?

17. What is your favorite book you had to read in school?

We don’t really have to read a certain book for school. We have to read books, of course, but most of the time you can pick one yourself, as long as the teacher approves of it. But I think my favorite one was the last one I read. It was for dutch class and I don’t know the title in English, but it was written by Anna Enquist.

18. What is your favorite book series?

Harry Potter. But also the Percy Jackson series, and A Court Of Throns and Roses, and Throne of Glass… I just don’t think you can compare them since they’re all so different. But if I had to choose I would pick Harry Potter of course.

19. Who is your favorite author?

J.K. Rowling then, obviously. Not only because she has the most wonderful immagination and because I’m so thankful that she has written the Harry Potter books, also because she is an amazing human being and of all authors, she is the one I want to meet the most one day.

20. What is your favorite genre?

YA fantasy.

21. Who is your favorite character in a book series?

Because I have too many favorite book series, I am just going to pick my favorite character from the last book in a series I read (ignoring Harry Potter because I have way too many favorite HP characters) which is An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I love Elias Veturius so much<3 He’s brave and smart and handsome and kind and just amazing…

22. Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?

They do all the time. Unless they are really bad, but otherwise books are like trains or airplanes or some sort of device which allows you to travel through universes/worlds.

23. Which book do you wish had a sequel?

Stardust by Neil Gaiman, it was so enchanting and I just need another book like that.

24. Which book do you wish DIDN’T have a sequel?

I can’t really think of one to be honest.

25. How long does it take you to read a book?

Usually about a week. Depends on the book though, if it’s really amazing (and I have no other obligations such as being social) I can read a book in only a few hours.

26. Do you like it when books become movies?

I do, if they are done right. I mean, there are always going to be things that are different from the book or left out (like the Harry Potter movies, for example), but as long as they don’t change the whole story (a.k.a. the Percy Jackson movies), I really love it.

27. Which book was ruined by it’s movie adaption?

Hmm, I can’t really think of one. Maybe Allegiant? I liked the book, but the movie was just terrible. I don’t know if it ruined the book, though…

28. Which movie has done a book justice?

The Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie. I know it’s not an adaptation but I just think that Fantastic Beasts is a really cool addition to the Potter universe and made me fall even deeper in love with the magical world (and DID YOU SEE THE NIFFLER???)

29. Do you read newspapers?

I sometimes read bits and pieces online, I think I should read them more though.

30. Do you read magazines?

Sometimes (if by sometimes you mean maybe once a year lol).

31. Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?

I don’t really get how this is a bookish question but alright… Although I don’t really read newspapers or magazines that often, I’d rather know what’s news than what’s fashion.

32. Do you read while in bed?

Yes. In fact, I do most of my reading in bed. Which isn’t always a good thing because when I really love a book I just don’t sleep until I have finished. I stayed up until 3 AM on a school night because of Queen Of Shadows. Let’s just say I was a zombie when I came to school next day.

33. Do you read while on the toilet?

No. How could that even be comfortable? I just don’t get why people do that lol.

34. Do you read while in the car (passenger seat obviously)?

I do. Although I have to make sure I take breaks now and then because otherwise I’ll get headaches.

35. Do you read while in bath?

Nope. I don’t want to risk my book dropping into the bath. I never really take a bath anyway, I prefer showering.

36. Are you a fast reader?

Depends on: 1. What do you consider a fast reader and 2. On the book I’m reading. And 3. On how much time I have. I usually a book a week. Pretty average I think (for a bookstagrammer/bookblogger at least).

37. Are you a slow reader?

See question 36.

38. Where is your favorite place to read?

In my bed, in the big comfy chair in our living room (when nobody is watching tv, otherwise I can’t concentrate), and perhaps the train? I don’t really go on a train that often but this summer holiday I went on this 3-day train trip through the Netherlands (I live there for those of you who don’t know yet) and I read a lot while I was on the train. The train is by far my favorite way of travelling, because it’s pretty comfortable and chill.

39. Is it hard for you to concentrate while you read?

Most of the time, no. But if I’m in really noisy places, the tv is on (question 38), or it’s just a really bad book it is way harder to concentrate.

40. Do you need a room to be silent while you read?

I don’t mind a bit of noise, but I prefer a silent room.

41. Who gave you your love of reading?

My parents, especially my dad. They used to read me stories almost every night before I went to bed. My dad loves books too (I can fangirl with him about Harry Potter and I swear it is amazing) and has always encouraged us (me and my sister) to read, although that didn’t really work with my sister. She’s not that much of a reader.

42. What book is next on your TBR?

A Court Of Thorns And Roses, I am going to reread it.

43. Who is your favorite children’s book author?

Does J. K. Rowling count? Otherwise I think it’d have to be Roald Dahl, or the person who wrote the Geronimo Stiltion books. I don’t know if you have them in English but I read a lot of them in Dutch when I was younger. I was absolutely obsessed with them.

44. When did you start to read chapter books?

God, I have no idea. How am I supposed to remember these things?

45. Which author do you most want to interview?

J. K. Rowling. I have a lot of favorite writers but J. K. Rowling is by far the most interesting and also my most favorite one.

46. Which author do you think you’d be best friends with?

Probably Sabaa Tahir. I don’t know if you have seen her Instagram story but she is so funny and amazing

47. What book have you reread the most?

Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. I read this book first in Dutch, then in English and then reread it. A lol. I know the whole first page by heart. The biggest reason is because I want to reread the whole Percy Jackson series, so I’ll start with the first book, but after the first book I have bought new books to read so I read those first before starting another attempt at reading the entire series.

48. Which books do you conider “classics”?

Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, that kind of stuff. Though I have only read Pride and Prejudice, I plan on reading a lot more classics in the future. I have the Barnes & Nobles edition of The Complete Works Of Shakespeare which I am also going to read, but only one story at a time and I just need to find a good moment. I want to sit down so I can concentrate solely on Shakespeare’s words. I also think Harry Potter should be added to the list, for obvious reasons.

49. Which books do you think should be taught in all schools?

Books that make people want to read. Not only heavy literature that is extremely boring and doesn’t interest students at all. But also cute contemporaries and high fantasy, just YA books. There are a lot of YA books that send really important and wonderful messages. Aside from that, we can relate more to characters who are of our own age thant to characters who are twice, maybe even thrice our age.

50. Which books should be banned from all schools?

None. I think you should be able to read anything you want. Okay, maybe pornographic books at school is not the best thing, but I think you get the point.
